Loving When it’s Difficult

Sometimes the most difficult thing in the world to do is to love someone, especially those who are closest to us. For sure, when everything is in harmony and the ocean of life is smooth, love is easy, love is simple. But when the storms roll in and the waters become choppy, when there are worries or disagreements with regard to family, emotions, finances, or any other negative events that may be looming, it all becomes much more difficult.

Yet, it is precisely when we don’t want to love that we need love the most. This doesn’t mean that we need to condone harmful actions, or even agree with everything the other person says or does. Nor does it mean that there won’t be times when we simply don’t see eye to eye. What it does mean, however, is that we never lose sight of the fact that the same Divine Light that shines within us also shines in the other person, and we need to speak and act accordingly no matter what.
