It’s that time again—another new moon. In a normal year as we complete the lunar month of Pisces, we should be entering the month of Aries. But this year, that’s not the case. We actually have another month of Pisces!
Why? Well, the kabbalistic calendar is a lunar calendar based on the cycle of the moon, as opposed to the secular Gregorian calendar, which is based on the cycle of the sun. For the kabbalistic calendar to stay in sync with the solar, the sages added an extra month seven times every nineteen years. This extra month, known as Adar Bet, or Pisces II, began this Saturday night.
Now you may be thinking: OK, if we need to add another month, why do we add another Pisces? Why not another Taurus, or Scorpio, or Leo?
Well, as you know, there are twelve months of the astrological year. Each one of these twelve months corresponds to one of the twelve signs of the zodiac. Six of these months are known as male months, and six of them as female months.
Spiritually speaking, the male months are a time for sowing the things that we will reap in the female months. In other words, for half the year we are planting seeds in our lives, and the other half of the year we are bringing those seeds to fruition.
Pisces is the last of the female months, so essentially it is our last chance to manifest the energy of the particular astrological year. So when we have an extra month of Pisces, or Adar Bet, the universe is giving us an additional window of opportunity to manifest the changes in ourselves that we haven’t yet manifested. We call this year a “Shana Meuberet,” or a “pregnant year,” because of this extra potential that lies within it.
So let’s use this energy of this extra month of Pisces to our advantage and take the actions that will bring positivity both to ourselves and to the world.
