“United we stand, divided we fall.” These words, have been used for centuries to inspire binding ideals of unity and collaboration. In these next four weeks, they might even serve to awaken the soul. For although we are each gifted and talented in our own right, there is so much more we can accomplish together than we ever could alone.
Capricorn (Tevet in Hebrew) is ruled by Saturn, the second largest planet in the solar system. Saturn's energy is somewhat stringent; there are no free lunches in this planet's orbit. Saturn demands organization, structure, and progress. Perhaps that is the reason that Capricorns are such hard workers! They are results-driven people; so much so that sometimes that they lose focus on the other important aspects of their lives like love, friendship, and family. This is compounded by the fact that Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun and is therefore very cold. As a result, people born under this sign can seem distant. It is their challenge (and all of ours this month) to step outside themselves to generate connections with others.
Capricorn corresponds to the Sefira of Malchut, The Kingdom, the physical world. This further supports the grounded nature of Capricorns, and explains why the magic that exists just beyond the confines of the five senses seems so out of reach.
As difficult as this description of the Saturnine force field might sound, we must remember that our universe is governed by polarity and whenever there is an energy present, there exists its opposite in equal measure. So, for example, as grounded Capricorns can be, they can be equally uninhibited and spiritual. (In fact, some of the greatest psychics of all time were Capricorn, including Nostradamus.) And as isolated and distant as they can feel at times, they can also be equally warm, tender, loving and affectionate.
There is Light ahead for all of us this month. We can harness this hardworking grounded Capricorn energy, and use it for the benefit of ourselves and others. We can use the structure of Saturn to build stronger relationships that will draw down goodness and positivity for the world.
This is a month that encourages teamwork and empowers us to build stronger bonds. Through our efforts to remove the space that exists between ourselves and others, we can find all our relationships – from family to business – strengthened by Capricorn’s end.
Here are a few tips to assist us in tapping into the positive energy of Capricorn, and to use it towards our own spiritual transformation:
1. Don't give up. This is a month to focus on efforts, not results. Stay certain, even if you cannot see the rewards just yet. Harness the working power of Capricorn to stay true to yourself and your goals.
2. Be creative. I love the quote by Maya Angelou that says, "You can't use up creativity. The more you use it, the more you have!" This month, set aside some time for art projects, poetry, writing, or dancing – anything to get you in touch with your creative essence. Our creative nature is that part of us that is ever expanding, unbound and free from limitation.
3. Be social. Spend time with family and friends. Invest more time and energy into growing your relationships with others. Get to know someone who is in your radar but you don’t really know yet. It might surprise you who is in your midst. Get out of your comfort zone, and share, share, share in every friendship, partnership, and business acquaintance you’ve got! Remember that the only thing left after we leave this world is that which we have shared with others.
One more thing! The first three days of this month contain the energy of miracles, as these days fall during the holiday of the Chanukah. Be sure to mediate to bring this energy with you through not only the rest of the month, but also through all the year.
Wishing you a blessed month,
Karen
