There are no small actions. Have you heard this saying before?

When you are walking down the street and come across a wallet or phone that was lost, for example, Kabbalah teaches that it was on purpose that you came across it, that there was a reason for it. The reason you are coming across this wallet or this phone is because you - either now or in the future - will need the assistance from somebody else when you lose something. You are given the opportunity to take action. And so, in taking that opportunity to return an item that was lost to its owner, you are therefore making it so that when you lose something, it will be returned to you.

This relates also to the instances of coming across people who need assistance. Perhaps you’re rushing to work and see an elderly person who has dropped all of their groceries on the street, for example. That opportunity is there for you to offer assistance, so that when you need assistance in the future, someone will be there to help you.

Hopefully, this gives us more of an appreciation for our actions… because, there are no small actions. We realize the importance of a relatively simple physical act; it can lead to our getting a lost object returned to us, or to our receiving or not receiving assistance when we need it in the future. As mentioned previously, it is not a coincidence that a certain lost item, or a person who clearly needs physical assistance, came into our view. If we grab that opportunity, then we will receive assistance when we need it. But if we let this one go, because we think we’re too busy or don’t have enough time, then when we do need assistance, it might not be there.

The level of importance of what you think you have come across to return, or the level of assistance you think someone needs, does not matter. Every action or potential action that comes into our lives is there because we need its effect, either right now, or later. Every single situation that comes into our life is because it is an opportunity the Light of the Creator gives us. The Light knows that by our doing this seemingly little action, we will awaken certain levels of assistance that we will need at some point in our lives. It is important to remember that there are no small actions, and that every action we do causes an effect.

Next time you come across someone who needs assistance or find something of someone’s that is lost and think you’re too busy or you don’t have time to help, stop and take a moment. It is possible that it’s the Light giving you an opportunity. There may be a time in the not-too-distant future when you need some assistance, or you lose something important to you. In helping return the lost object now, in helping to assist a person now, you are allowing it so that when you need help in the future, you will receive it.

When you see a call to action, step up. And remember that no action you do, however insignificant it seems, is small. It has an effect.
