Lesson Highlights

  • Esau’s power was in his mouth; he deceived and manipulated people
  • Esau’s driving desire was Isaac's recognition
  • Jacob’s efforts were for the Light
  • Long term fulfillment or instant gratification; what do we settle for?
  • Isaac was blinded to Esau’s negativity: not seeing the big picture and having agenda
  • Our logic prevents us from being a channel for the Light
  • The struggle between Jacob (good inclination) and Esau (evil inclination)
  • Going through the process and trusting the big picture
  • Preparing ourselves for blessings
  • What specific area in our lives are we looking for a blessing?
  • Willingness to do spiritual work whether or not those blessings come
  • The heart (good inclination) and the liver (evil inclination)
  • There are physical and spiritual ramifications to everything we do
  • Blessings are unlimited when our prayers are not about ourselves
  • Experiencing pain: relief from pain is a small desire; we must enlarge our desire to be a channel of Light for more than ourselves
  • Consciousness of constant growth

Lesson Description

In the portion of Toldot, Rivkah and Jacob appear to trick Isaac into giving Jacob his blessing even though Esau was the first born. Jacob and Esau are codes for the the Good Inclination and the Evil Inclination and it is through this story that we gain the consciousness to tap into the blessings that await us. Join Eitan as he provides us with the importance of understanding the big picture and removing our personal agendas so we can manifest these blessings in our lives.
