Lesson Highlights

  • Our actions during the week determine the elevation of the Shechinah, the perfect Malchut
  • Unification of the male and female aspects (body and the Soul)
  • The Angels are the messengers of the Shechinah, and we have to elevate them on Shabbat
  • Awakening appreciation and awe of Shabbat
  • Feeling the pain of the world
  • Examining our progress and work towards our transformation and correction
  • The redemption of the Soul means no longer being chained by our evil inclination
  • Nothing can damage the Soul
  • Asking to receive the part of our Soul that is elevated and untouched by the klipot
  • Eshet Chayil refers to all the traits of the Shechinah:
    • A righteous woman doesn’t waste, she hires someone to help her but also works with her own hands so there are less expenses, supervises her employees to show care, connects with the Light within her, and show strength when disciplining her children.
    • It is the woman (and the Shechinah) who makes the husband who he is
  • Investing in the negative side doesn’t produce fruits as opposed to investing in the positive side
  • Completing our actions, finishing what we start
  • Taking care of ourselves before taking care of others
  • We feel the Light when the gate of the heart is open
  • Bread of shame draws judgment
  • Strength and dignity guard ourselves from doing negative actions
  • Restricting now so we can have ever lasting blessings
  • Knowing when is the right time to speak or not merit us to connect with the energy of wisdom and mercy

Lesson Description

The purpose of these lessons is to learn the meaning of the Shabbat songs and fully feel the blessings of this powerful cosmic opening. Yosef Yeshurun explains that the songs Lecha Dodi and Eshet Chayil (by King Solomon) help elevate the Shechinah, the source of our Souls, a collective vessel, and that is the purpose of Friday night.
